Bibione Blue Flag

Also this year Bibione received the Blue Flag, the award given by the Foundation for environmental education (Fee) in collaboration with Cobat and Coou (mandatory Consortiums for the collection of batteries and spent oils), the Carabinieri Command for the environmental protection and the General Command of the Port Authorities.

It is the only one in the Veneto region that has been able to meet the strict criteria established by the Fee, which assesses not only the presence of green areas, cycle and pedestrian paths, but also the perfect purification of wastewater and proper separate waste collection.

Bibione certified by EMAS

Probably Bibione, a fraction of the Municipality of San Michele al Tagliamento, will henceforth be remembered not only as a third bathing resort for presences in Italy, but also as an example of "best practice" in Europe for environmental efficiency and sustainable tourism.

In fact, in June, Bibione obtained two coveted awards, crowning a 4-year job that involved, together with the Municipality itself, the University of Padua (Prof. Antonio Scipioni, CESQA - Centro Studi Qualità Ambiente), the Veneto Region, ANPA, the EMAS Italy Committee, all operators and associations in the territory.

In fact, since 7 June, Bibione is the first and currently the only tourist center in Europe to have obtained EMAS registration, through the adoption of an environmental management system applied to the entire territory and not to the single administrative activity carried out by the Municipality . The EMAS Registration (Eco-Management and Audit Scheme), granted according to the European regulation n. 761/2002 and certifying excellence in the environmental management of an organization, had never before been issued to an entire territory, nor to a tourist pole.

Just the innovation, as well as the level of originality that distinguish this result, led to the awarding of the project by the European Commission, which defined the pole of Bibione as a reference of excellence (best practice) in territorial environmental management in Europe.

The path launched by Bibione evidently aims at an eco-conscious management of the territory, with the precise aim of guaranteeing a constant and progressive environmental improvement through the active and synergic involvement of all the subjects that operate in various ways in the tourist resort. It is evident that, precisely from the point of view of the principles of the EMAS Regulation, obtaining the registration must be considered only the beginning of a process of continuous improvement that can involve an increasing number of subjects.
